Every scholar will leave prepared for college and career, no exceptions. In practice, this looks like: standards-aligned, rigorous lesson preparation; clear, consistent classroom routines and expectations across the school; student discourse and inquiry at the center of instruction; real-time data collection and instructional adjustments; strategic reteaching and intervention; teachers internalize curriculum deeply, demand active engagement, and ensure students do the cognitive heavy lifting.
Scholarly Habits
Academic success is not accidental, it is built through habits. We explicitly teach and reinforce habits such as preparation, active learning, and teamwork that prepare students for high school rigor, college coursework and career pathways. This happens in dedicated blocks during the school day, through teacher evaluation and student-self reflection on habits, and through frequent communication home with families.
Professional Development & Coaching
We believe strong teacher leadership drives dramatic gains in student achievement. That’s why we invest heavily in adult learning, through individual and group professional development and coaching. At Veritas, feedback is frequent, targeted, and growth-oriented. We expect teachers to continuously refine their craft and we provide the support to make that growth possible.
Our Commitment to Results
We believe our students deserve to achieve at the highest levels and to compete academically with their peers in surrounding districts. If you followed Veritas before the pandemic, 65%+ of our students were leaving 8th grade meeting/exceeding expectations on MCAS tests, ready and prepared for high school. Like schools nationwide, the pandemic impacted learning. Our MCAS results now show both real progress and clear areas for growth. We are focused on returning to, and surpassing, our pre-pandemic performance because our students deserve to be on grade level and fully prepared for what comes next.
