Student Spotlight: Lesli Morales
Lesli, an 11th grader at Veritas Prep High School, has been with the school since 5th grade. While she has gained confidence and academic skills, she struggled to have a clear vision of what her future would look like.
“The first time I heard about this program I was like, “Yes I want to go to college!” If I go to college I can get a sense of what I really want to do with my life. If you take advantage of the free programs Veritas gives you, you can get a step ahead. ”
The Outcome
By sophomore year, Lesli was confident in her abilities as a student, but was feeling overwhelmed trying to figure out what was next for her. If she went to college, what would she do there? That’s where Veritas came in – one of our College & Career counselors met with Lesli and talked to her about her interests.
After visiting Boston University on a 10th grade field trip, Lesli realized that she wanted to go to that school pre-med, with a focus on research. She was nervous about the math and science requirements, but when she started taking Tech Math at Springfield Technical Community College in Fall 2024, she realized she enjoyed the practical applications of math, and how it helped her in her physics course.
With the support of our Early College liaisons, Lesli is excelling in the class. Lesli has taken full advantage of all Veritas has to offer, and is looking forward to getting her CNA certification at STCC this Spring. With a particular interest in studying Alzheimers, Lesli has a vision for her future and is on track to reach her goals.
